The Resistance Is Coming to Call of Duty: WWII

It’s nearly time to join The Resistance! Our second Call of Duty: WWII community-wide event kicks off tomorrow, January 23^rd, on all platforms, and lasts until February 27^th. There are a lot of awesome features we have coming for you, so make sure to tune in each week to experience them all. It’s the best way to get a taste of The Resistance: DLC Pack 1, which is inspired by the French Resistance and other Allied Resistance efforts carried out during World War II.

The WWII Resistance movements featured in this event include those from France, Poland, and the Soviet Union. During this dark time in history, it was not only the trained soldiers of these countries that fought valiantly to resist German forces, it was also the brave civilian groups of men and women who risked their lives to restore freedom and liberty to their homelands.

Their incredible bravery and perseverance inspired us to emphasize their movements in our upcoming DLC and community event. The Resistance event incorporates aspects of their stories in everything from the weapons used to the clothing they wore that truly captured the essence of these civilian-led movements. While not officially ranked soldiers in their countries, they answered the call to resist and displayed exceptional willpower, motivation, and skill in overthrowing the German war machine.

With that in mind, we’d like to introduce to you our newest addition to the Multiplayer Division lineup – the RESISTANCE DIVISION! You’ve been grinding and leveling up all five Divisions, and mastering all they have to offer. Now it’s time for your next challenge. All throughout Europe, civilians banded together to help defeat German troops and liberate their cities from occupation. The Resistance Division brings new skills and specializations to the front lines, such as the ability to scramble enemy maps and the Pistol Tactical Knife. These were weapons of the common citizen that became crucial in Resistance uprisings.

Now, let’s get down to the nitty gritty and begin with a schedule of playlist highlights lined up for each week of this high-energy event coming your way…

Week 1: PROP HUNT is coming to Call of Duty: WWII! You’ll need to use your expert sleuthing skills to find players disguised as objects hiding out around the map. For props, stealth is crucial to survival.

Week 2: There won’t be a special playlist this week, because The Resistance: DLC Pack 1 launches on PS4! It includes 3 new maps, a new War Mode experience, and the latest chapter in Nazi Zombies – The Darkest Shore. Available for all Season Pass holders.

Week 3: Get ready for our all-new MP mode – DEMOLITION! A bomb-objective mode similar to Search and Destroy, Demolition includes respawns and all attackers have a bomb each time they respawn, and both sites must be destroyed.

Week 4: GUN GAME is back! Less wintery, but still awesome. Work your way through a progression of guns. Each kill earned progresses you to the next gun. Get one kill with the final gun in the progression before anyone else to win the match.

Week 5: Prop Hunt returns this week, but this time with a “Bomb Mosh Pit” consisting of both Demolition and Search and Destroy.

In addition to these modes, keep an eye out for a variety of 2XP opportunities each week!

We are particularly excited for the new Resistance UNIFORMS featured in this event, including brand-new uniforms representing Resistance fighters from Poland, France, and the Soviet Union. These men and women wore uniforms of everyday clothing. They were not necessarily trained soldiers, but the damage they dealt to the German war machine was significant nonetheless. Each uniform has unique details that distinguish it from the standard military attire of each country.

Guess who’s back from the front lines? CAPTAIN BUTCHER. And he’s bringing with him awesome Resistance Collection Rewards, including three new weapons – the Orso, the Volkssturmgewehr, and the Combat Knife. You’ll want to try your hand at all three.

We’re also bringing WINTER CARENTAN back into the map rotation! This is something special we are bringing back for The Resistance event.
